Gemsstock is like Grandpa👴🏼 Don't rush off too early!

We are about to start the last stage of winter. It's the best. We'll explain later what this has to do with Grandpa.

Let's start with the current conditions: after the snowfall on February 14th with around 20cm of fresh snow on the Gemsstock, it stayed dry for the last ten days. Still you found beautiful snow until feb 20th, especially on the backside of the Gemsstock. But with some wind and warm temperatures, a crust gradually formed. As we write these lines, however, some snow is falling again. Even if it's only 10cm - the Gemsstock will appear in a fancy new dress, just as we like it.

Following video: beautiful turns on the backside of Gemsstock on feb 19th. Although this was five rather warm days after the snowfall of feb 14th, pretty decent snow could be found.

Now, what has Gemsstock to do with Grandpa? Gemsstock is a mountain of character. If he were human, he would be this grumpy old man, hard shell, soft core. It takes time to gain his trust, but once you have it, he opens up warmly. And like Grandpa, he becomes more and more gentle towards his last days.

So as we enter the last phase of Gemsstock winter, this is what we experience: the sun has more power, the days are longer, the snowpack becomes consistent, sharks getting covered. But still you find finest powder along with super fun slushy snow! Remember when you were a child and Grandpa was rather strict? But as you grew up he just wanted to share happiness with you rather than teaching you lessons?

While many of you are in freeride fever early winter - just keep in mind: the best is about to come. So don't rush off too early...
