Gletschhorn South Ridge, 4a

A classic alpine ridge climb on perfect granit.

Service Description

In the finest Uri granite, the south ridge leads in a beautiful line to the summit of the Gletschhorn at 3304m. One of the best ridge climbs in the 4th grade. We get an early start from Tätsch at 2272 just above Tiefenbach on the Furka Pass road. A beautiful hike, first over rocks and scree then a glacier leads us to the base of the ridge. Depending on conditions we need ice axe and crampons. Amazing and varied climbing leads us along the ridge over towers, through cracks and textured slabs to the peak. After enjoying the spectacular views we make a descent down-climbing and rappelling back to the glacier below.
